Kansas City Community College, also known as KCKCC, is a public 2-year community college found in Kansas City, in the state of Kansas. Kansas City Kansas Community College gets its accreditation from the Kansas Board of Regents and the Higher Learning Commission, a commission of the North Central Association.
Kansas City Community College was established as part of the Public School System of Kansas City, Kansas in 1923. Then in 1965, the name of the school was changed to Kansas City Kansas Junior College in accordance with legislation governing 2 year colleges in the State of Kansas. In 1979, the legislative action prompted the school to once again change its name as a two-year college in the State of Kansas. The term junior was dropped from the school names and it was replaced with the term community, this is when the school changed its name to its current name of Kansas City Kansas Community College
Among the buildings found in campus includes the Henry M. Louis Social & Behavioral Sciences Building; an Administration building and College of Business offices, the Jewell Student Center; a bookstore with Dining services, the Performing Arts Center; home for the school’s Theatre Department and Media Services, the Field House; the school’s Athletic Department and Gymnasium, the Allied Health Building; KCKCC’s Health Department and Student Recreation Center, a Campus Child care center, several student housing buildings, and a library.
Kansas City Kansas Community College is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). The school competes in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference. The school fields teams in almost 10 different sports. The school colors are red white and blue and the school nickname are the Blue Devils.
